Hello, Happy Tuesday!

Up next is my next #LFW post featuring Holly Fulton's beautiful SS14 collection. I'm reasonably happy with the quality of the screen shots in the show, taken on my Mac, not bad to say the models were strutting at a fair pace! Gotta love the excitement of a Live Stream!

So many lovely garments, silhouettes and embellishments to talk about in Holly Fulton's show, I've been looking forward to writing this, so here it goes...

High anticipation at Fulton's show... a few moments before it starts

Staying true to her signature, Fulton's latest catwalk debut for SS14 showcased a refined range of geometric prints, interestingly layered up over glistening jewel embellished tops. It was apparent to see the Scottish designer's muse and core inspiration was the; high glamour of the 1970's. 

Styling was reminiscent of one special lady in particular...

Seventies signatures, from muted colour palettes to slick one sided voluminous hair styling; epitomising a youthful Jerry Hall.

Oversized dark tinted sunglasses circa 1975 were spotted in Fulton's show.

Midi lengths, pleats and twin set printed silk garments were featured in subtle hues of lilac, white, purple and grey.

Block lace details & peachy prints; make a perfect combo!

Close-ups highlight Fulton's eclectic mix of prints, fabrics and cut throughout the show. 

  

Patterned cutwork style panelling and surface design on this dress has an Asian influence. 

 This slanted geometric printed dress in orange and peach was nipped in at the waist and dressed at the neck with exquisite art deco embroidery. 

I love the autumnal feel of this silk blouse, in a warm floral camo print it was replicated in a lurex frayed metallic bomber jacket. Despite its seventies nostalgic feel, high shine fabrics and embellishments kept the collection unpredictable and contemporary.

Chunky jewellery and accessories, gave this highly feminine collection a quirky edge. 

More seventies please. 

A billowing pyjama printed trouser, styled with a clean classic white shirt and lurex swing coat looked effortlessly chic. 

This belted mac in a warm autumnal floral print, is a refreshing contrast to what is usually considered Spring Summer outerwear. A matching sequined skirt peeks from underneath, complimenting the juxtaposition of surface design. 

This was one of Fulton's show stopping ensembles for me. I adore the sequinned top, the style, shades and size of the angular sequins is so tactile. A very wearable piece and collection to note for that matter, I love how Holly Fulton incorporated orange and also centered her collection around this hue. 

This happy colour injected into the print on the silk palazzo trousers, looks beautiful. 

Love this signature art deco printed Holly Fulton divide on the runway, looks like it would be fabulous as wallpaper!

Holly Fulton Forever!

This multi-talented and disciplined designer, wowed audiences with her slick, contemporary and fun collection. It exceeded my expectations and I absolutely loved the styling of the models. Bronzed, naturally beautiful with a hint of glamour and lots of hairspray! 

Her signature prints are always one to watch, another amazing collection this SS14!

MEADHAM KIRCHHOFF AW13 FASHION WEEK

I was lucky enough to have a day off when Meadham Kirchhoff showed at London Fashion Week last month. I've been a fan of this English/French design duo since the beginning. Each season the boys fascinate, shock & inspire with their intricate details, unwavering colour palette and contemporary slant on historical costume, tailoring and couture. 

Tucked up in my room in Whitefield; I had the pleasure of watching live-streaming of the show on Stylist. It was dark, mysterious and amazing to say the least...

Set against an industrial concrete backdrop, models paced in beautiful monochrome ensembles, showcasing side swept hair with dashes on red on their lips & nails. 

High shine fabrics and PVC were featured throughout the collection. 

Modern approaches to surface decoration and design were presented in the form of rubber ruffled trousers & reflective metallic leather shoes. 

A haunting bride; embroidered lace veils took a new turn in the show. All white ensembles with nautical stripes evoked 1920's nostalgia. 

Eccentric gold leather sling-backs were reminiscent of 17th Century styles.

Anyone for Tea?

Beautiful Victorian gingham pinnies worked there way into the Meadham Kirchhoff show, complete with ribbon trims and cute matching shirt collars. 

Lace veils in the show gave me chills; I love the exquisite embroidery.

A strong air of nostalgia was intrinsic though the collection. The monochrome combo's were complimented well with bejewelled crowns and high shine leather shoes. 

One of the last few dresses featured on the runway, I love this vintage 1940's inspired maxi. Definitely one of the show-stopping pieces, the lace trim & peter pan collar are lovely details.

Illustration & Style Icon...must be Verhoeven

For as long as I can remember I have so very admired and gushed quite a fair bit at the work of British Illustrator Julie Verhoeven. Her drawings are captivating flamboyant, vivacious and provocative. Her explosive use of colour depicts her invented sinister-esque characters well bringing them to life, giving them personality and an identity within the fashion world.

Not only is she a fab illustrator, she is an incredibly eccentric snappy dresser too. Rarely seen without clashing bold prints, patterns and spots in sight, Verhoeven's wardrobe epitomises her character ideals and their mischievous yet scantily clad acid individuality.

Throughout my life as both a student and now graduate, I find myself constantly referencing her work for inspiration, technique and color theory. She is indefinitely on my list of icons, not only for her tremendous artistic contribution to the fashion and arts world...pushing boundaries for print and illustration to be featured more in fashion through mutual collaboration. But also for her fabulous style, living inspiration and artistic genius. Amazing lady!!!

Dare I say one of the finest collections to come out on the high street this year...Jaeger Boutique SS/11 is utterly stunning to say the least. Its the kind of capsule wardrobe that every stylish young lady dreams about...including myself.

With a collection of utterly stunning pieces ranging from 50's inspired prom dresses, smart utility trousers, cute macs and classic polka dot prints... there is no doubt that this label will be selling like hot cakes!

Recently launched in my local workplace, House Of Fraser Manchester, I was instantly drawn to the refreshingly youthful approach to day-wear meets work-wear. A lot of pieces in the collection actually remind me of styles modelled by that of the land girls in the First and Second World Wars. Maybe its the muted palettes, khaki greens and rik rak prints that make me reminisce of these times.

The bags are so beautiful too, along with the printed animal tees. I like how the look-book has been styled up with plain white pumps, I think this makes the collection look more fresh and in a sense classic.

I would without a doubt wear the whole collection, I've got my eye on the Micro Stripe Shirt dress (2nd from bottom image) and the Boucle Prom dress. (last image) I have some money saved from Christmas so maybe I'll splurge and treat myself! I'm afraid I won't have any money soon enough as these beautiful pieces do come with a hefty price tag!

I think its perfect for any young professional wanting to look a little less ordinary and more unique.
